Credit Cards - Processing
When accepting credit cards, in addition to the credit card number and expiration date (required for processing), you can also collect the billing address and zip code, as well as the security code (also known as “Card Verification Value 2” or “CVV2”.
The reason you might want to collect this additional information is that often the fees are lower when you have the billing address, and having the CVV2 will help you win your case in the event of a dispute.
In Livery Coach, you can make these fields required for each trip.
Simply navigate in Maintenance to Maintain…System Default Config…and select the Credit Card tab.
If you want to require the billing address and zip, check the box “Bind Street/Zip”.
If you want to require the CVV2 (a separate decision), then check “Bind Card VerificationValue”.
Finally, even if you have the wrong billing address, the processor will often still let the charge or preauth go through—but you may pay a higher rate. (Check with your processor for details.)
The third box, “Display Message If Street/Zip or/and CVV2 is not matching on manual pre-auth” will warn you when you do a preauth and something isn’t right—so you can get it right before closing the trip.
